What makes us tick?

Having spent most of his career in manufacturing, John has a unique skillset revolving around hardware and software. While his knowledge base is generally geared toward business case, he also has plenty of personal use-case knowledge. John has a few hobbies, but technology is certainly one of his favorites. His wife has had to deal with all the smart devices around the house, even if they make her life a little easier. She can easily change the temperature on the thermostat from her seat in the family room, or adjust it to make the bedroom a bit warmer before going to bed, using the different sensors around the house. Once in bed, it’s a quick voice command to turn the lights off, or John can press a single button on his phone’s main screen and the lights magically fade out to dark. The whole house is set up with various smart devices, making it more efficient and more secure.

John started fiddling with computers from a young age, making his own little programs. As he grew older, his programs turned into professional applications, but he still plays around on his own server at home, making things just for fun. He also has built several computers for himself, family members, and friends, all from scratch using individually selected components. He has also done repairs, recovering data from failing hard drives, upgrading computers and laptops, and destroying used hard drives for safe disposal.

With the constant changing technological world, John has tried to keep up, always upgrading his devices and software. He also enjoys tinkering with new trends, including AI imaging and text generation. He has generally upgraded his smart phone every year or two, trying a few different brands of phone just to see what the differences are and what is better or worse.

One other hobby of John’s is audio and video equipment. He has always enjoyed watching movies, but as an adult, he has grown to also enjoy having surround sound that immerses him in the experience. Having knowledge of AV Receiver specs, he has chosen some great pieces of equipment over the years, only upgrading when technology demands a change. With new, higher resolution flat screens, audio equipment and other media devices need to be able to handle the inputs and outputs necessary to properly display images and output the best sound possible.
